SUMMARY OF COURSE CONTENT
This 4-hour CE course* will review the process of treating patients in the early-mid mixed dentition with full braces, including:

- The evolution of wire technology in clinical orthodontics and how modern wire technology allows for the creation of the ideal force system to develop the arches of pre-adolescent patients.
- The types (i.e. materials), sizes, and shapes of wires to use when preforming arch development in the early-mid mixed dentition.
- How to use the primary teeth as anchors to develop the bone and create space for the erupting permanent teeth.
- The intervals at which patients should be seen during treatment and the duration of treatment visits.
- What to perform/accomplish at each visit to maximize the efficiency and efficacy of treatment, including archwire changes, use of closed and open coil springs, management of loose primary teeth, addition of brackets to blocked-out teeth, etc.
- Tips and tricks to troubleshoot potential challenges that can be encountered during treatment.
- Clinical videos and patient testimonials will be provided.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The primary educational objectives of this course are to:
- Explain the evolution of archwire technology and its practical implications in clinical orthodontics, especially as it pertains to developing the arches of pre-adolescent patients.
- Review the amount of force needed to expand the palate of pre-adolescent patients and compare the amount of force delivered with rapid versus slow expansion.
- Explain the following regarding treatment visits during arch development for patients undergoing archwire development in the early-mid mixed dentition:
- Visit intervals.
- Procedure(s) to perform at each visit to maximize efficiency and efficacy.
- The shape, size, and sequence of archwires to be used.
- Strategies for maximizing patient comfort and minimizing emergency visits.
- Techniques for efficiently and effectively creating and maintaining space for the erupting permanent teeth.
- Management of loose primary teeth.
- Demonstrate the aforementioned clinical techniques using videos taken during actual patient adjustment visits.
- Teach providers how to troubleshoot challenges that may arise during treatment.
